Argentine Residency and Citizenship Pathways for Qualified Investors

BBI Argentina works with Argentine legal counsel to structure residency applications alongside qualifying investment acquisitions.

Request Qualified Access

BBI Argentina is a Mendoza-based investment advisory that supports qualified international buyers across three residency and citizenship pathways available in Argentina. The Advisory service line includes Argentine legal counsel coordination for residency structuring, entity formation and immigration filings. BBI Argentina does not provide legal advice directly — all legal work is handled by specialist Argentine counsel within our network.

Argentine Residency Pathways

Investor Residency (Rentista)

The Rentista pathway is available to buyers who can demonstrate a regular income stream of at least USD 2,500/month from foreign sources. An agricultural property with a management lease or an operational winery qualifies as the income source.

Requirements

Apostilled income documentation, Argentine bank account, local legal representative

BBI Argentina Role

Advisory — coordinates with Argentine immigration counsel and structures the qualifying income documentation

Agricultural Investment Residency

Buyers acquiring operational agricultural assets in Argentina may qualify for residency under the investment residency framework. Vineyards, wineries and orchards with active production are the most commonly used qualifying assets.

Requirements

Minimum investment threshold (confirm with legal counsel), proof of active operation, Argentine corporate structure

BBI Argentina Role

Origination + Advisory — sources the qualifying asset and structures the acquisition alongside the residency application

Decree 524/2025 — Citizenship by Investment Framework

Important Legal Notice Presidential Decree 524/2025 established a framework for citizenship by investment in Argentina. As of mid-2026, the implementing regulations required to make the program operational have not been published, and the application process does not yet exist. Federal courts issued rulings in June 2026; the government is appealing those decisions. BBI Argentina monitors developments and will update this page as the regulatory situation clarifies. Buyers interested in this pathway should engage Argentine legal counsel directly.

Residency Support Within the Advisory Service Line

Origination

BBI Argentina identifies qualifying assets that meet both investment criteria and residency threshold requirements simultaneously — so buyers do not need to source a property separately from the residency process.

Advisory

The Advisory service line coordinates Argentine immigration counsel, manages apostille documentation workflows, oversees corporate entity structuring and ensures the acquisition timeline aligns with residency application timelines.

Execution

Post-acquisition, BBI Argentina ensures the property is operationally active — a requirement for investment-based residency maintenance — and manages the ongoing documentation the immigration file requires.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply for the Decree 524/2025 citizenship program now?

No. As of mid-2026, the implementing regulations have not been published and the application process does not exist. The decree created the legal framework only. BBI Argentina will update this page when the program becomes operational.

Does buying a vineyard or winery automatically qualify me for residency?

Not automatically. The qualifying investment must meet income or investment thresholds set by Argentine immigration law, and the application must be filed with appropriate documentation. BBI Argentina's Advisory service line coordinates this process with Argentine immigration counsel.

Can I hold Argentine property as a foreign national?

Yes. Foreign nationals can hold Argentine agricultural property in their own name or through an Argentine SA (sociedad anónima) or SRL (sociedad de responsabilidad limitada). BBI Argentina's Advisory service line covers entity structuring.

How long does Argentine residency take to process?

Processing times vary by pathway and individual circumstances. Temporary residency approvals have historically taken 3–12 months. Permanent residency follows after 2 years of temporary status. BBI Argentina coordinates with Argentine legal counsel — we do not provide immigration timelines as legal advice.
